This project was about writing, recording and mixing one single song during a two weeks long Music Residency. The goal was to get inspiration from a very specific time, place and people and trying to grasp the feelings that come from this immersion. The song turned out to be a nostalgic adventure of self-reconciliation, nature and love.

Arielle Soucy is a Canadian signer, songwriter and musician, graduate from Montreal’s Concordia University in Music Performance. Although her music is mostly a blend between folk, soul and jazz, the influences and inspirations of the young composer are very diverses; baroque contrepoint, middle age polyphonies, minimalism, polyrhythms, rock or samba are some of them. Her approach to composition is about finding a balance between intricacy and simplicity and about creating music that as space. Fascinated about the human voice, she avidly studied classical singing technique and litterature, but also complemented her undergraduate studies with composition and improvisation classes. Currently, she works as a professional soloist and chorister in Montreal, and is working on recording her first album of original songs.
