about

French duo BCBG, based in Paris, were formed in Brazil at a residency program in 2012 between two friends having met and played shows in separate bands in and around the Paris underground/experimental scene. This Brazilian revelation spawned the early single and video, “Sailor’s Wife” which served as a document for the early jamming and rehearsals.

Following European and North American tours (USA with Opale and Ensemble Economique), they released on Hybridity the EP "Chapelle Abstraite" lead by the hypnotic and transcendental single “White Trees” with a film clip created by Australian film maker/musician Angie Garrick (Circle Pit, Straight Arrows) and a remix by Perth-based producer Ourobonic Plague. Two EPs "Noces d'argent" and "Messe d'Agey" followed.

Taking wide ranging influences from French Pop, Berlin Techno, Dalida, Etienne Daho and 70s Turkish psychedelic music, BCBG create a unique sound lead by the soaring vocals of Mariette sounding like french icon Francoise Hardy trapped in some deep dance floor spell drenched in reverb, delay and ecstasy. Samuel and Mariette collectively compose the backdrop of melody and madness through dueling keys, synths and throbbing drums.
