Music and the Shadow People is a feature length radio play produced by Andrew O’Connor and written by American composer William Parker. Commissioned by KunstRadio on Austrian public broadcaster ORF, it originally aired in August of 2015, and is now being developed into a live performance for actors, musicians and 8 channel spatialized sound design. This excerpt is from Chapter 3: "The Intuitive Tomorrow". Music and text are performed by William Parker, the sound design and production are by Andrew O’Connor.

Andrew O’Connor is an independent radio producer, and sound artist based in Toronto Canada. His work reflects an interest in sound, storytelling, and transmission, and explores these ideas through formal broadcast radio as well as installation art, sound design, and pirate radio. Andrew’s work for the radio has been featured across the CBC Radio network, syndicated internationally on Australian public radio ABC, Radio Zero in Lisbon Portugal, and by Austrian public broadcaster ORF. Most recently his work has been featured in the Radiophrenia Festival put on by the Glasgow Centre for Contemporary Art, and at the Depp Wireless festival of Radio Art. Andrew currently hosts and produces a weekly pirate radio show called Disco 3000 on his own low watt FM station Parkdale Pirate Radio.
Andrew’s work in radio dates back twenty years, but in recent years that it has extended beyond standard broadcast radio into gallery pieces, installations and sound design. This work has been presented at festivals across North America including Megapolis in Baltimore, the Third Coast Filmless Festival in Chicago, the Vancouver New Music Festival, and at the Open Ears festival of Music and Sound. Through this work Andrew has been invited to be a visiting faculty member at the Banff Centre for the Arts, received a commission from the Klondike Institute for Art and Culture to create a site specific work for their yearly thematic series The Natural & The Manufactured, helped create the award winning theater project BOBLO and had his work included in the anthology ``Transmission Arts: Artists and Airwaves`` published in 2011.
